Rocco and Cora

At just four months old, Rocco was brought into the Riverside Shelter after being found roaming the streets with his best friend, one year old Cora. Initially mistaken as two males, they were housed together—a lucky mistake that allowed their bond to grow even stronger. Quickly becoming volunteer favorites, they managed to survive an incredible four months in a high-kill shelter. But by the end of January 2025, their time had nearly run out.

Desperate pleas went out from the shelter and across social media, begging for someone to save them—together. Southpaw had been watching, hearts heavy, knowing we were at full capacity. But when the day came and no one else could step in, we knew we had to act. So, we pulled them both.

 

And we’re so grateful we did.

After months in the shelter, Rocco and Cora were confused and scared. They were briefly separated for their spay/neuter procedures and medical exams. But the moment they were reunited in the shelter parking lot, the joy was undeniable—it was a celebration.

​

These two are an absolute delight. Total goofballs with the sweetest, most loving personalities. They adore people, get along wonderfully with dogs and cats, and despite everything they’ve endured, they remain happy, well-behaved, and full of love.

​
